Here to help.
A few simple steps for a good recording. And a direct way to get help when something doesn’t work.
Internal beta 0.4.0 (15)
Talk to the developer
Let’s work it out.
For a problem, a question or feedback about MIME, email Isaac Shochat.
[email protected]Please leave out facial photos, videos, recordings, patient names and medical documents. A description of the problem is enough to start.
Useful details to include
- Your iPhone model and iOS version
- The MIME version and build shown in TestFlight
- What you tried, what happened and any error text
Before you record
A little preparation.
Set up your iPhone
Use iOS 17 or later, enable a device passcode and allow MIME to use the camera. Read and accept the local-recording consent before starting.
Find a steady, well-lit spot
Face the front camera with your face fully visible. Keep the phone upright and steady, and follow the framing guidance.
Follow the cues, at your own pace
Follow the on-screen movement instructions. You can stop at any time. Video saving is optional and off by default.
Common questions
A quick answer.
The camera is black or won’t start.
Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and check that MIME is allowed. Return to MIME, unlock it and try again. If the problem continues, close and reopen the app, then contact support with the error text.
MIME asks me to adjust or try again.
Use even light on your face, keep your whole face in view and steady the phone. Follow the framing prompt before moving. If a result is missing or unreliable, MIME should show that limitation; it is not a normal result or a diagnosis.
Why does MIME ask me to unlock?
Recordings are private. MIME uses your iPhone’s device authentication, such as Face ID or a passcode, and locks again after going into the background. Set an iPhone passcode if you have not already. The developer cannot bypass this lock.
Does MIME save video or record sound?
Silent video is saved only when you enable “Save video recordings”. The setting applies to new recordings; turning it off does not delete existing videos. MIME does not record microphone audio. Movement data is saved even when video saving is off.
How do I delete my data?
Open “My recordings”, select a recording, choose “Delete recording” and confirm. This deletes that recording’s local movement data and any saved video. To remove the local profile and all app data, delete the app; offloading it is different and keeps its data. The developer has no server copy to restore.
How do I update or report a beta problem?
Open TestFlight, select MIME and install an available update. Check the build number there when reporting a problem. You can email support or use TestFlight feedback. Review any attached screenshot first and remove facial images or identifying details.
Privacy, in plain words.
What stays on your iPhone, what TestFlight shares and what you control.
