MIME privacy policy
Your face.
Your data.
Facial data is sensitive. This policy explains what MIME processes, where it is kept and the choices you have.
Internal beta 0.4.0 (15)
Processed on your iPhone
Facial movement analysis and recordings stay on the device.
Video is your choice
Saving silent video is optional and off by default.
You can delete it
Remove recordings in the app, whenever you choose.
Who and what this covers
MIME is developed and operated by Isaac Shochat. This policy covers the internal TestFlight beta, version 0.4.0 (15), and these MIME support and privacy pages. Questions can be sent to the contact address below.
MIME is an experimental facial-movement recording app. Its automatic measurements are not validated clinical grades and it must not be used for diagnosis or treatment decisions. Sharing and export are disabled in this internal beta.
Data used on your device
MIME uses the front camera and Apple’s on-device vision frameworks to record facial movement. Depending on your choices and device capabilities, its local records can contain:
- Facial landmark coordinates and movement time series; experimental 3D facial geometry and expression values if you enable that camera mode.
- Recording times, attempts (including failed attempts), quality checks, phone-motion measurements, capture settings and app, algorithm, device and operating-system version information.
- A locally generated profile identifier, the affected side you select, preferences and the date of your local-recording consent; any clinician assessments you choose to import.
- Identifiable silent facial video, only when video saving is enabled. Facial geometry and movement data can also be sensitive even without your name. MIME does not record microphone audio.
Storage and protection
Analysis runs on the iPhone. MIME has no account service or recording-upload server and does not automatically send recordings, facial geometry or imported assessments to the developer. It includes no advertising, tracking or app analytics SDK.
MIME requests iOS file protection and exclusion of its recording files from device backups. Access uses the iPhone’s device authentication, and the app locks after entering the background. These measures reduce risk; they do not guarantee protection against every device, operating-system or backup failure.
Spoken guidance uses bundled audio or Apple’s speech system for fixed instructions. Facial recordings are not sent for speech generation; system voice downloads, if needed, are managed by Apple.
Your choices and deletion
You can decline recording consent, stop a recording, turn optional video saving off for new recordings, or revoke camera access in iPhone Settings. Stopping or changing a permission does not delete existing records.
To delete a recording, open My recordings, choose the recording, tap Delete recording and confirm. Its local movement data and saved video are removed. Records otherwise remain on the device until you delete them.
Deleting MIME removes its local profile and app data. Offloading the app keeps its data. The developer cannot remotely read, recover or delete recordings on your iPhone. Copies independently made outside the app, if any, must be managed separately.
Apple TestFlight
Apple automatically collects TestFlight crash and usage data and shares it with the developer. This may include your name and email address. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information.
Feedback submitted through TestFlight can include comments and screenshots. Check attachments for facial images or identifying information before sending. The developer uses beta diagnostics and feedback to investigate faults and improve MIME, not for advertising, and does not share TestFlight data with third parties.
Support and these web pages
If you email support, the developer receives your email address, your message and anything you choose to attach. This information is used to respond and troubleshoot. Please do not send facial recordings, patient identifiers or medical documents.
These MIME pages contain no advertising or embedded contact forms. Website hosting and security services may process ordinary connection data, such as IP addresses, requested URLs and browser details, to deliver and protect the pages. Email providers process messages to deliver support correspondence. These services do not receive your app recordings merely because you visit a page.
The website also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page views and loading performance. This is website measurement, separate from MIME’s on-device recordings. See Cloudflare’s explanation of Web Analytics.
Retention and requests
Support correspondence and developer-accessible beta diagnostics are kept only as long as needed to respond, investigate problems and meet applicable obligations. Apple and the hosting, security and email providers manage their own service records under their respective policies; their retention can differ.
Contact Isaac Shochat to ask about, access, correct or request deletion of personal information held for support or beta testing, or to withdraw consent where applicable. Requests concerning local recordings must be carried out on your device as described above. Rights and any required retention depend on applicable law. Apple’s own data can also be managed through Apple’s Data and Privacy portal.

This policy will be updated when MIME’s data practices change. The date on this page identifies the current revision. A future release that adds sharing or server processing will need an updated explanation before those features are used.
