AIRFIELD / Support

Find your first gesture.

Start with one movement and one sound parameter. Then build a setup that feels like yours.

TestFlight beta · iOS 17 or later · TrueDepth required for Lift

Your first session

  1. Connect. Open Connect, choose Find a MIDI device, and pair with an instrument or computer advertising Bluetooth MIDI. Close the browser and explicitly select its MIDI output. For a compatible app on the same phone, choose its available MIDI destination.
  2. Preview. Place your iPhone screen-up on a stable surface. Keep one whole hand above the front-camera end of the phone. Start tracking and allow Camera access. Tap a colored row to choose and preview a gesture.
  3. Calibrate. For Lift control, open Setup → Set hand range and follow the near/far instructions. Lift uses real camera depth; a front TrueDepth camera is required.
  4. Play. Use a sound you do not mind changing and a comfortable monitoring volume. Turn Control on. AIRFIELD sends MIDI; listen through your receiving instrument or app.
Why is there no sound?

AIRFIELD does not produce audio. Check that your receiving instrument or app is making sound, that you selected its MIDI output, and that Control is on. Enable incoming MIDI control on the receiver and match the MIDI channel. A connected Bluetooth speaker is not a MIDI receiver.

My device connects, but the controls do not respond.

Pairing and output selection are separate steps. After connecting, explicitly select the destination under MIDI output. If it disappears, reconnect, refresh destinations, select it again, and turn Control on. Use the connection help inside Connect for more guidance.

Why does Lift say it is waiting for depth?

Lift needs a front TrueDepth camera and a clear view of your hand. Keep your whole palm in view, place the phone flat, and try a comfortable distance in even lighting. Calibrate near and far positions in Setup. AIRFIELD pauses Lift when depth is unavailable; it does not substitute apparent hand size.

How do I save a setup?

Open Setup → Choose a scene and use My scenes to save or recall a setup. Scenes store your mappings and gesture choices locally. Recalling a scene keeps the current phone calibration and leaves MIDI control off until you turn it on.

Does AIRFIELD record my camera?

No. Camera images and available depth are processed on the iPhone and are not recorded or uploaded. Camera access is used for hand tracking. Read the privacy policy for details about MIDI, local storage, and optional diagnostics.

How do I install the beta or report a problem?

Install Apple’s TestFlight app and open the invitation sent to your email address. A build must be approved for external testing before it becomes available. Send feedback through TestFlight or email us with your iPhone model, iOS version, MIDI receiver, and the steps that caused the problem.

For more detail, use Setup → More options → Export diagnostics. Review the file before sharing: it may include custom labels and device names. Exporting does not send it automatically.

The beta is still being evaluated for device coverage, accessibility, longer sessions, and end-to-end MIDI timing.
