AIRFIELD / Privacy
Privacy policy
Last updated: 30 October 2026
Your hand tracking stays on your device. AIRFIELD turns movement into MIDI controls without an account, advertising or analytics.
This policy covers the AIRFIELD iPhone app, developed by Isaac Shochat, and this privacy page. AIRFIELD does not automatically send camera images, motion readings, settings or usage data to the developer.
Camera and depth
With your camera permission, AIRFIELD processes live front-camera images and available depth information on your iPhone to locate your hand, recognize gestures and measure movement. Images and raw depth data are processed in memory. The app does not record them, save them to files, upload them or include them in diagnostics. It does not identify you or use facial recognition.
Tracking begins when you start it or open a gesture or hand-range preview. Camera processing stops when the app becomes inactive. A preview can resume when you return, with MIDI control still off until you explicitly turn it on.
Phone motion
Optional phone-motion controls use device orientation, rotation and acceleration locally to generate MIDI values. They run only while enabled and the app is active. The app does not save or upload raw motion readings.
MIDI and Bluetooth
AIRFIELD sends musical commands, such as notes and parameter values derived from your movements, to the MIDI destination you select. That destination may be an instrument, another app or a computer, including a network MIDI destination provided by the operating system. The receiving device or software controls what happens to those commands; choose a destination you trust.
With Bluetooth permission, AIRFIELD advertises the generic name “AIRFIELD” while active, so nearby devices may see it. The advertisement does not contain your name, camera images, settings or hand data. Bluetooth MIDI connections and device discovery are managed by iOS. Nearby devices may also observe normal Bluetooth identifiers and connection information.
Settings and saved scenes
Mappings, calibration, sound labels and saved scenes are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. If a settings file cannot be used, AIRFIELD may keep a local recovery copy to protect your previous configuration. These files stay until you change or delete the relevant data or delete the app. Recovery copies remain until the app’s data is deleted.
AIRFIELD has no developer-operated cloud sync. iOS or computer backups may include these local files according to your backup settings, and restoring a backup may restore them.
Diagnostics you choose to share
The app keeps up to 200 recent MIDI trace entries in memory for troubleshooting. Export diagnostics creates a local text file with the app version, device model and iOS version, current settings and labels, camera and connection status, the selected MIDI destination name, timing statistics and that trace. It excludes camera images, raw depth maps and the saved-scene library.
Exporting does not send the file to the developer. You choose whether to save or share it using the iOS share sheet and who receives it. Review the file before sharing: custom labels and connected-device names may contain personal information. The temporary export may remain in the app’s temporary storage until replaced, cleared by iOS or removed when the app is deleted. Copies you save or send are controlled by you and their recipients.
Your choices and deletion
- Change camera, Bluetooth and motion permissions in iOS Settings. Features that need a disabled permission may be unavailable.
- Turn phone motion off in Setup. Turning Control off stops gesture-driven MIDI output; it can leave local hand tracking running for preview. Leave the app or revoke camera permission to stop camera processing.
- Delete saved scenes in Setup → Scenes. Deleting a scene leaves the current mappings unchanged.
- Use Delete App in iOS to remove AIRFIELD’s local settings, scenes, recovery files and temporary exports. Offloading the app keeps its data. Manage device backups and any exported copies separately.
- For information you have sent to the developer, request access, correction or deletion at the email address below.
When you contact us
If you email Isaac Shochat, your email address, message and any attachments you choose to include are used to respond and investigate your request. Email providers process those messages to deliver and store the correspondence. Support information is retained only as needed to handle the request, maintain relevant support records or meet legal obligations. You can request deletion using the same address.
AIRFIELD has no advertising or analytics SDKs, no account system and no in-app microphone recording. The developer does not sell your personal information or use camera, depth or motion data for advertising or tracking. Apple’s App Store, operating-system diagnostics and backup services operate under Apple’s own settings and privacy terms.
This page
The copy bundled in AIRFIELD can be read offline. Opening the online policy sends the usual connection information, such as your IP address and browser request, to the website’s hosting provider to deliver and secure the page. Hosting services may keep access or security logs. The AIRFIELD pages do not load advertising or analytics scripts, external fonts, forms or third-party media. The hosting provider may add technical services to deliver and secure the website. Website hosting does not receive camera images, hand tracking or MIDI activity from AIRFIELD.
